Treatment with Donor Sperm
Treatment with donor sperm is an option for couples when the partner has no sperm, very poor semen quality or genetic. Single women and female same sex couples may consider using donor sperm to conceive.
We have access to nationwide and international sperm banks, which provides our patients with easily available donor sperm. As a result, we have no waiting list for treatment using donor sperm.
We ask our patients specify the characteristics they are looking for in their donor and based on this information, we provide them with a choice of donors to choose from. All donors are screened as per the HFEA guidelines for infectious diseases, such as HIV and chlamydia.
How does the process work?
Initial Consultation
This appointment with a consultant involves taking a full medical history, discussing your requirements and answering any questions you may have.
If you wish to proceed with treatment, you will be required to complete a Donor Characteristics form.
Screening Tests
Before you can be matched with a donor, blood tests will need to be carried out.

Counselling
Every patient undergoing treatment with us must have a counselling session. We will arrange an appointment for you with our independent counsellor to discuss the full implications of treatment with donor sperm.
Consultant Review and Scan
During this meeting, your screening results will be reviewed and you may require a transvaginal ultrasound scan.
Treatment Commences
You will receive a personalised treatment plan from your patient coordinator/nurse. Your patient coordinator/nurse will explain how to administer the medication and answer any questions you may have.
